Short answer: The price of a professional LiDAR scanner mainly depends on range, point rate, accuracy and which sensors are included – cameras, thermal camera and RTK/GNSS. Post-processing software, accessories and training affect total cost. Norrpoint does not publish list prices; every scanner is quoted for the job, usually within 1–2 business days.
Why is there no simple price?
The same scanner model can be configured in several ways. An FJD Trion P2 for indoor scan-to-BIM doesn't need the same kit as a P2 that must be georeferenced outdoors with RTK. Compare quotes by configuration, not just by model name.
What drives the price
- Range and point rate: Models with longer range and more points per second, like the FJD Trion S2 (up to 120 m) and FJD Trion T1 (640,000 points/s), sit higher than compact models.
- Accuracy and mode: Tripod or hybrid modes for higher local accuracy cost more than pure handheld SLAM.
- Sensors: Panoramic cameras for coloured point clouds and a thermal camera, as on the FJD Trion P2 Vision+, raise the price.
- RTK/GNSS: An RTK module or built-in GNSS is needed for direct georeferencing but unnecessary if you only scan indoors.
- Software: Licences for post-processing, classification and sharing, such as FJD Trion Model.
- Accessories: Extra batteries, vehicle and backpack mounts, case and tripod.
- Training and support: Norrpoint includes online operator training and Swedish support.
Buy, rent or outsource the scanning?
If you do recurring work – as-built documentation, volume calculations or forest inventory – owning the scanner usually pays off because field time per job is short. If the need is occasional, buying scanning as a service may make more sense. Estimate how many jobs per year the scanner replaces tripod or manual surveying.
How to get an accurate quote
In your quote request, describe:
- The environment (indoors, outdoors, underground, forest).
- Accuracy requirements and coordinate system.
- The deliverable (point cloud, floor plan, BIM, volumes).
- Which models you are considering and whether you want a demo.
You may want to read the buying guide first, or compare models under LiDAR scanners.
